Conferences

February 18-19, 2009, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will host a conference titled “Southern Seminary and the History of American Christianity.” The conference is part of Southern’s celebration of its sesquicentennial in 2009. July 15-18, 2009, the V International Conference on Baptist Studies will be held at Whitley College in Melbourne, Australia. The conference theme is “Baptists and Others.” Additional information is available here. In addition to a number of plenary sessions related to the conference theme there will be a number of shorter 25 minute papers presented during breakout sessions. August 24-25, 2009, The Andrew Fuller Center for Baptist Studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will host its third annual Baptist Studies Conference. The conference theme is Baptist Spirituality: Historical Perspectives. Plenary speakers include Crawford Gribben, Michael Haykin, Robert Strivens, Greg Thornbury, Kevin Smith, Tom Nettles, Greg Wills, Gerald Priest, Jason Lee, and Malcolm Yarnell. Funding Opportunities

The Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives in Nashville, TN is pleased to announce a limited number of study grants available to scholars interested in using the Archives’s holdings. For more information, visit the SBHLA website.

Other Announcements

According to Associated Baptist Press, “The American Baptist Historical Society dedicated the Samuel Colgate Historical Library and Archives on Mercer University’s Atlanta campus Sept. 27, bringing its vast collections previously housed at Valley Forge, Pa., and Rochester, N.Y., under one roof.” This is now the largest repository of Baptist archival materials in North America.
